Alan Ho is currently general manager of The Harmony Climate Group Carbon Assets Consulting (Beijing) Co. Ltd. He is formerly managing director of Camco International Limited in China. Under his leadership, Camco China signed up one of the largest carbon assets portfolios in the industry. Alan is an expert in managing a team of talents to develop CDM and VER projects across many sectors in China including energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.
Alan has many years’ experience in mainland China. He was Trade Commissioner of the Australian Trade Commission based in Beijing from 1992-1997. During his administration, Alan led the Australian Securities Commission and Australian Stock Exchange to sign memorandum of understanding between the two governments for listing Chinese enterprises in the Australian Stock Exchange.
Alan was general manager and chief representative of Earth Tech, Inc., a wholly owned water and wastewater utility company of Tyco International Limited, a global Fortune 500 companies, from 1997-2002. Under his administration, Earth Tech in China invested in major water and waste water companies by way of build-operate-transfer model. Total commitment of over USD200 m was invested during the period.
Alan was vice president of Lafarge, the largest cement company in the world, based in China on strategy and business development from 2002-2006. During the time, Lafarge in China grew from a 5 mt company to a 21 mt company through organic growth and external alliances and acquisitions.
Alan specialises in riding the value chain of carbon assets development and trading. Based in Beijing, The Harmony Climate Group is a highly professional practice in carbon assets origination, placement, brokerage and trading. He advises a number of key industrials in China on climate commodities projects.
Alan holds a bachelor degree in Economics with the Manchester University and a master degree in Philosophy with the Peking University. His management thinking and practice focus on non rationality arena in the fast changing global market place particularly in China and its oriental neighbouring countries.
