Hinrich is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the White Rose East Asia Centre/ National Institute of Chinese Studies at the University of Leeds. His research interests are in the internationalisation strategies of mainland Chinese companies and the impact of the institutional environments on business strategies and the competitiveness of firms.
Previous to his current post, he finished his PhD in international business at the Centre of International Business University of Leeds (CIBUL) and spent time with the United Nations Industrial Organization (UNIDO) and several companies in Germany and China.
He begins a new research project in August 08 as Roberts Fellow on transition to future energy at CIBUL, which investigates the source and degree of organisational learning and technology transfer within Mutlinational Enterprises in the energy sector from China, India and Europe. He has a particular interest in the use of Future Energies to reduce energy intensity and greenghouse gas emmission, whilst maintaining reasonable economic growth.
